Today, visitors of Park of History Sula can make their own way along the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks on a real-size Viking boat – the Sula drakkar.
In ancient times, river routes were not only the most profitable, but also essentially the best possible trading routes. Nowadays, rivers become shallower and narrower, but in the past, our ancestors' boats could easily navigate them.
Most likely, Sula, on which our complex is situated, used to be wider and deeper, too. The trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks, which is known even to schoolchildren from their history textbooks, could have partially lain on it.
Sula drakkar is an ambassador of the past. This dragon ship takes participants of interactive tour '10,000 Years of Belarusian History' from the Varangian pier to the medieval section. In addition to the tour, visitors can take a trip on the drakkar, during which they can enjoy the nature and the atmosphere of a different epoch.
